In 1990, Eric Salazar borrowed some cash from his father and purchased a used sampling keyboard. His mind nurtured on The Art of Noise and Kraftwerk, corrupted by the industrial noise of the late eighties, Eric slowly began prodding vibrations of his own sort from the narrow white and black keys. He wove strange melodies around seductive noises until 1997, when he decided to release his first CD, the Penitence EP, under his own record label, Palace Records. Emptyhead was born! However, consignment in the local bins of mom & pop record stores proved dissatisfying, so in 1998 Emptyhead went worldwide - www.emptyhead.com was launched to strong acclaim and established Eric Salazar as a digital artist of the first order. It wasn't long after the launch of the website that DJs in the US and abroad began spinning Emptyhead and a music video for the song "Penitence II" was added to the playlist of Teletunes in Colorado. 1999 began with the release of the first full length Emptyhead album and ended with the song "Voluptuous" receiving an honor for best instrumental from Macworld magazine for its 1999 Macworld Music Contest. The new millenium brings with it New Vision Recording's release of Emptyhead's Recovery Remix of Rareform's "Emotions in Force", a 12" vinyl drum and bass single which has already sold nearly 1000 copies in the UK.
